Frequently Asked Questions About Referrals

Is the Care Team confidential?

The Care Team strives to maintain students’ privacy. When instances of sexual misconduct, harm to self, or harm to others are present, the Care Team is required to report to the appropriate office.

Can I, as the reporter, be anonymous?

Submitting an anonymous concern inhibits the college's ability to fully investigate and assist students of concern. We ask you to complete all fields of the referral to the best of your knowledge.

Should I tell the student I referred them to the Care Team?

It is not required, but it can be helpful if you let the student know you’re referring them so the supports are connected and anticipated.

Will a referral get this student in trouble?

Referring someone to the Care Team helps us connect the student to support systems. These connections keep education, wellness, and safety of the utmost importance. This is not a punitive system.

How do I contact the Care Team after I’ve submitted a referral?

The Care Team will follow up with the reporter only as needed. If you have additional information and would like to update the Care Team about the student of concern, please submit another referral with the updated information.
